Ariake Outline chair, oak

The Outline chair was created during a design workshop arranged by the Japanese brand Ariake. The Danish design duo Norm Architects worked together with local Japanese craftsmen, looking for inspiring details at the factory and warehouse, letting the form of the chair be developed piece by piece, little by little. After drawing an outline of the chair, the designers, in collaboration with the craftsmen, refined the design, its proportions and small details like the rounded backrest, curved seat and tapered legs until they were happy with the drawing. To honor this process, they decided to name the chair Outline.
